  1. This is really helpful. I'm a longtime minor pentatonic blues, I,IV,V player and this has opened new doors. I have been playing more chromatically and it has really added a dimension to my music. Any chance you could tab out the scales you use when soloing to chalkdust? I hope phish plays in japan again while you're there, I think they owe it to you. thanks for the lessons and keep them coming.

  2. Ha, yea a return trip out here would be great, but I'm not holding my breath. I can see them going international again, but they'd definitely do Europe again before coming back to Japan.

Anyway, I'm not going to tab out the scales, because you can find that on hundreds of other sites on the internet. I can tell you exactly what scales I use, which are mostly just E minor pentatonic and E Dorian. They are almost the same scale, but the Dorian scale adds a C# and an F#. Use them wisely.

  4. I know, Jake, and I'm sorry. I've been busy.

I'm in the process of upgrading my gear (new Cmatmods compressor, sending my TS9DX to Analogman to have it modded). Those won't be in my possession until after I return to Japan from the States in early January (after NYE!), but I'll post some stuff soon after I get back.

  5. Mike, first off let me say, you're awesome. I was trying to find your email address but I couldn't so I'll ask here. What do you use to record your videos? They have killer sound. Keep jamming,

    Take care of your shoes,
    -Mr. Palmer
